Prawns from Lyngenfjord should have a fresh taste, a firm and resilient

consistency and a natural red color.

Late growth in cold Arctic waters gives the prawn a sweet and slightly salty taste

that is unique to prawns from Northern Norway.

Characteristics of good quality fresh shell on prawn are that they have a fresh smell of the sea and are aesthetically pleasing.

In addition, they have their spears and antennae intact, which is not the case

with shell on prawns that have been frozen.

Fresh prawn is a sensitive product so it is extremely important to have an unbroken cold chain so that the quality does not deteriorate.

 

Lyngenfjord is available either as shell on prawn, hand-peeled prawn, machine-peeled prawn or raw prawn.

Lyngenfjord hand-peeled prawn

Lyngenfjord hand-peeled shrimp consists of the very best shrimp from the fjords of Northern Norway and the Barents Sea.

The shrimp are peeled by hand at our factory in Lyngen, Troms. They are then placed in a brine that preserves the natural flavor while also providing a shelf life of up to 8 weeks.

This results in a short-lived niche product of high quality.

In 2019, Lyngenfjord hand-peeled shrimp was awarded the Spesialitet mark, an official mark for exceptional Norwegian local food.

Lyngenfjord fresh shell on prawns

Our fresh shell prawn are fished from Bodø in the south to Varanger in the north.

 

The prawn are assessed based on strict quality requirements, where the shrimp must have a fresh taste, a firm and resilient consistency and a natural red color.

Fresh shelled prawn are delivered daily by local prawn boats and shipped in 15 kilo cartons to quality-conscious customers.

We offer quality shrimp all 12 months of the year.

 

Our standard size is 90-120 prawn per kilo. In the season from April to October we also offer extra large prawn.

Lyngenfjord RAW

Lyngenfjord RAW is fresh, raw prawn with a natural red color and sweetness.

 

Together with a deep umami flavor, the product offers a gastronomic experience. The product is primarily aimed at the restaurant market.

 

The prawn are brined to preserve freshness, taste and availability in the best possible way.

Lyngenfjord fresh shell on prawns in MAP

Fresh shelled prawn packaged in MAP (modified atmosphere) have a longer shelf life than shrimp packaged in regular packaging.

 

The packaging method also ensures a completely tight package that makes it easy to transport.

Lyngenfjord machine-peeled prawn

Lyngenfjord machine-peeled prawn is produced weekly from fresh prawn from the fjords of Northern Norway.

 

The prawn are machine peeled and brined to preserve quality and flavor. Today, we are one of only two factories that produce machine peeled shrimp from fresh prawn. The prawn can be stored for up to 8 weeks.

Our machine-peeled prawn are excellent for prawn salads and prawn sandwiches.

 

Package size: 1.5 kg and 6.5 kg. Also available in various MAP packages.
